Halva scores for 3rd year in row

It was a great finish in the 3200 at the State Track Meet Thursday in Des Moines. Danny Halva (left) and Ogden’s Andrew Stumbo went step for step down the backstretch with the Ogden junior winning in a photofinish, 9: 49.04 to 9:49.05. For Halva, it still meant five team points for NFV. It marked the third consecutive year Halva has scored points at a State Track Meet. He finished his TigerHawk career by compiling 15 points at State Meets, the only points ever scored by the NFV boys.

In less than ideal conditions on Monday, May 9, the West Central boys’ and girls’ golf teams set out to different courses to take on the rest of the Upper Iowa Conference.

The girls’ team traveled to Guttenberg Golf and Country Club in Guttenberg, where it played in cloud cover and wet conditions for the 18-hole match. For most meets the Blue Devils golf just nine holes, which meant the conference tournament really pushed both teams mentally and physically. The Lady Blue Devils finished in the middle of the pack (sixth) with a team score of 466 while North Fayette Valley took home the gold with a team score of 374.
