Rita Manderfield

Longtime Fayette resident Rita Manderfield will celebrate her 90^th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 12.

She and her husband, Reginald “Sam,” farmed near Fayette and then lived in Fayette for many years.

Rita now resides at Good Samaritan Society – West Union.

Greg and Carol (Schlawin) Johnson of Elgin were married Oct. 14, 1989, at St. John’s Congregational Church in Elkader.

The couple have two sons, Jarrett and Kenneth, both at home.

Brandon and Abbie Huinker of Nashville, TN, are happy to announce the birth of their daughter Alma Karolin Huinker.

Born Tuesday, September 16, 2014, she weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 19” long.

Grandparents are Gary and LeAnn Larson, Elgin and Larry and Jolene Huinker of DeWitte.

Great Grandparents are Leo and Karolin Lehman and Marilyn Larson, all of Elgin; and Dorothy Huinker of Garner.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Jacobson

The children of Mike and Jodi Jacobson invite relatives, friends and neighbors to help Mike and Jodi celebrate their 25^th wedding anniversary with a card shower.

 The Jacobsons were married Oct. 7, 1989, at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union.

Marcille Kent

Marcille Kent will celebrate her 90^th birthday with a card shower and a family dinner hosted by her daughters.

Marcille, the daughter of William and Lizzie (Deterding) Schroeder, was born in rural Bremer County on Sept. 30, 1924.

She married Kenneth Kent Jr. on March 23, 1947, and they farmed in the Hawkeye area. Kenny died in 2008.

Marcille’s daughters are Kitty Baade of Fort Dodge, Karen (Randy) Wilbur and Kay (Mike) Meyer, both of Oelwein. Her sons Ronnie and Brian and son-in-law Dave Baade are deceased.

Her family also includes her daughters-in-law Kay Kent of Hawkeye and Teri (Dean) Brockway of West Union, 20 living grandchildren, one deceased grandchild, and numerous great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Albrecht

Beth Ann Rau, daughter of Mike and Kim Rau of Aurora, and Scott Alan Albrecht, son of Alan and Judy Albrecht of Maynard, were married Aug. 23 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. Deacon Jim Patera officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.

Jack Thuente

Jack Meyer Thuente, son of Eric and Amy Thuente, was baptized Aug. 24, 2014, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by the Rev. David Beckman. Godparents are Christi Meyer of Calmar and Lloyd Kuennen of Marion.

Jack was born July 4, 2014, at UnityPoint St. Luke’s in Cedar Rapids. He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. and was 22 inches in length.

Big brother Evan and big sister Lila welcomed Jack home.

Grandparents are Pete and Alma Meyer of Calmar and John and Sharon Thuente of Fort Atkinson.

Great-grandparents are Irma Thuente of Festina and Joseph and Agnes Hackman of Fort Atkinson.

Kenneth Schultz

Kenneth Schultz will celebrate his 90^th birthday with an open house to be held Sunday, Oct. 5. The celebration will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye.
