      State Representative Chad Ingels and Senator Dan Zumbach will host a constituent meet-up from 9-10 a.m. at the West Union Community Library Saturday, Feb. 24. The meet-up presents an opportunity for constituents to engage directly with the elected officials, share concerns, and discuss issues facing the community.

Elgin musical rehearsals March 7

      Elgin’s 2024 Homecoming Celebration will again include a musical performance by local residents. Rehearsals will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the Elgin Public Library. All who are interested in participating are invited to come.

      The musical performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, June 28, and 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30. Cost for both performances at Elgin City Park is a free will donation. Find Elgin Homecoming Musical on Facebook for more information.

      Additional information on all of Elgin’s 2024 Homecoming activities will be published in the Union Echo Leader in the coming weeks.

Dairy royalty and award nominations sought

Dairy royalty and award nominations sought

       The Fayette County Dairy Promotion Board (FCDPB) continues to seek assistance in nominating Fayette County dairymen, women and youth for their hard work and accomplishments. 

      The awards needing nominations include the Pioneer Dairyman, Distinguished Dairy Producer, Outstanding Dairy Family,  Outstanding Young Dairy Producer, Outstanding Dairy Employee, Dairy Appreciation, Fayette County Dairy Best, and Sally Fagle Memorial Award.

      Nominations for the awards can be given by contacting FCDPB President Jenny Hamlett at 563-920-0432, the Fayette County Extension Office in Fayette at 563-425-3331, or by contacting a FCDP board member. The deadline for nominations is Tuesday, March 5.

      In addition, the FCDPB is seeking candidates for Little Miss Squirts, Little Mr. Herdsmen and Dairy Princesses/Ambassadors.

Clermont 175th meeting Thursday

      The Clermont 175th Steering Committee will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Clermont Opera House. In addition to providing updates for the July 5-7 celebration, the committee will welcome input, ideas and/or suggestions from community members. A sign-up sheet will also be available for anyone who wishes to volunteer on a committee or for an activity on the day of the celebration.

      Anyone unable to attend the meeting Thursday, but who wishes to provide input or volunteer, may call 175th Committee co-chairs Hannah Frederick or Kayleen Schrader at hefrederick@gmail.com or kschrader@clermontia.org, respectively.

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville announced its chancellor's list, honoring those with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages for the fall 2023 semester. Among the area honorees were Ayla Moss of West Union and Maria Streif of Maynard.
