Jon R. Mitchell, 76, of Arlington, Iowa passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 2, 2019 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, 310 Main Street, Arlington, Iowa and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.

Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution later.

Bessie E. Smith, 90, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Monday evening, June 24, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union.

Funeral Service were held at  11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, rural Oelwein, Iowa with Jim Lawless leading the service.

Visitation was held one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Memorial Fund were listed as the  March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.

Clara Trapp, 92, died June 20, 2019 at The Stratford in Carmel, Indiana. A memorial service will be held July 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. St. Peter Lutheran Church, 28884 State Street, Eldorado/West Union, Iowa (563-422-5445) with lunch following at the church.  Graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 1350 West 12th Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa (319-268-7222). Following internment, an open-house gathering will take place from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Montage restaurant, 222 Main Street, Cedar Falls (319-268-7222). Joan and Lynne invite all friends and family to attend.

  Memorials may be made to the Ken and Clara Trapp Memorial Scholarship, UNI Foundation, 121 Commons, Cedar Falls, IA 50614-0239 (please include a note referencing scholarship name), or to a cause of the giver’s choice.

Patrice E. Trice, 80, of Dubuque, passed away on June 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pat was born on July 21, 1938 in Dubuque, the daughter of Hilda (Seipp) and Edward Brom. She married Edgar “Ed” Trice on February 16, 1961. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2007. They had one son, Brian.  She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first.  

She is survived by her son Brian of Chicago, Ill; her sisters, Janice Brom of Ossian, IA and Dianne Kruchek of Alden, IA; her brother and brother-in-law, M. Anthony Brom and Darrel Differing of Cathedral City, CA; sister-in-law, Sue Brom of Bremerton, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Lewis Donaghey of Trenton, TX and many nieces and nephews.

Delores Dummermuth

Delores Dummermuth

 

Delores Dummermuth, 87, of Elgin, Iowadied Monday, June 3, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa.  Delores Elaine, the daughter of Dale and Laura (Clark) Knox, was born June 30, 1931 in Hawkeye, Iowa. She graduated from Randalia High School and attended Pitzi’s Beauty School in Waterloo.  Delores was united in marriage with William Andrew Dummermuth on October 15, 1950. Three children, Ranae, Jay D. and Dee J., were born to this union.

Delores and William lived and farmed near Elgin, Iowa.  They retired and moved into Elgin in 2011.  In addition to helping on the farm, Delores worked as a teacher’s aide for several years with Valley Community Schools and also worked at Hardee’s in West Union.

Delores was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and U.M.W. in Elgin. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing Bingo and belonged to a few card clubs with her husband, William.
