Harold Frick

Harold Frick

 

 

Harold Albert Frick, 96, of Elkader died peacefully at his sons’ home, Monday, July 3, 2017, in Manchester, Iowa.

He was born August 27, 1920 in Plain, WI to Alfred and Rose (Nachreiner) Frick.

Harold was united in marriage to Letha Marie McManus on May 18, 1946, in Pontiac, MI. The couple was married for 62 years and blessed with four children. They spent their winters in Winter Haven, FL. for over 25 years.

He proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in August of 1942 and wounded in action on the 8th day of the Battle of Iwo Jima on Feb. 26, 1945. He was discharged as a Private First Class in August 1945 after recovering from his wounds. Harold was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a local member of the VFW Post 106 and American Legion Posts: Elkader, IA Post #0106 and Sebastopol, CA Post #3919.

Diane M. Fay, formerly of Sumner, died Friday, May 12, 2017, at her home in Des Moines.  

On Sunday, July 23, a rosary will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. The family will then greet friends and relatives until 8 p.m. 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24. 

All events will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Sumner.

Robert W. Proctor, age 91, passed away at Manor Care Nursing Home in Waterloo, Iowa on July 5, 2017. 

Robert was one of two children born to Ralph and Wanda Proctor of Alpha, Ia.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his sister, Lorraine (Rollin) Krueger, stepchildren Roger Huschen of Alpha, IA and Lucinda (Vernon) Schmitz of West Union, IA, and three children, Luanne Douglas of Forest City, IA, Charlie Proctor of Boone, IA, and Tim (Jenny) Proctor of Patton, MO. 

Robert proudly served his country as a Private in the United States Army and was a cook during the WW II campaign in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion for 70 years.

James J. Scally, age 63 of Waterloo, IA formerly of New Hampton, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home of natural causes.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date with burial at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton.

James "Jim" Scally was born Dec. 1, 1953 in New Hampton, the son of Francis and Jovina (Gerleman) Scally.  

He worked at White Corporation, Conway Trucking, and most recently retired from Target Distribution Center.

Ronald died Saturday, June 17, 2017, following a short illness.

Susan Jane Dohrmann, age 75, of Fayette, Iowa died on June 24, 2017 warmly embraced by family and friends. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William B. Dohrmann, and their children, Ann Dohrmann (Matt Maruggi), Jane Dohrmann (Don Anderson), Tom Dohrmann (Nayantara Mukerji), grandchildren Hope Dohrmann Anderson, Benjamin Dohrmann Maruggi, Sofia Dohrmann Maruggi, Ishan Dohrmann, and Ila Dohrmann. 

Additional surviving family members include her sister Linda Ellis (William Ellis), brother Albert “Sparky” Duroe (Suzanne Duroe), brother-in-law Boyd Dohrmann (Irene Dohrmann), numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a lifetime of friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents Alvina and Collingwood Duroe and parents-in-law Fern and Bernard Dohrmann.

Susan Jane Duroe was born in Des Moines and moved with her parents to Jesup in 1955.

Michael Ames Moser, 27, of St. Charles Missouri, formerly of West Union, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, unexpectedly of natural causes at home.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Upper Iowa University- Dorman Gymnasium, Fayette, Iowa.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Grandview Cemetery, Fayette.

Michael Ames Moser was born on July 25, 1989, to Rick and Kathryn (Ganske) Moser in West Union, Iowa.

He graduated from North Fayette High School in 2007 and attended St. Cloud State for one year where he was a member of the football team. Mike was an Upper Iowa University graduate and played football for the Peacocks for six seasons.

Steven R. Niles, 70, of Fayette, died unexpectedly Monday, June 5, 2017, at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Fayette Community Church with Pastor Andy Sayer officiating. Interment will be held at Lima Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Wednesday, June 7th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette and for one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Mary Frances Murphy Greetan, 85, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at her home in Carlsbad, N.M.  

A Funeral Mass was held at San Jose Catholic Church in Carlsbad on June 9, 2017, followed by cremation.  

Services were entrusted to West Funeral Home in Carlsbad.   

Mary Frances Murphy Greetan was born on Oct. 9, 1931, on a farm in West Union, Iowa, in Union Township, Fayette County, to parents William and Elizabeth Miller Murphy.  

She was raised and educated in Iowa and graduated from high school in 1949.

Following graduation she worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone for eight years.

Mary and the love of her life, Donald Greetan, were married Aug. 8, 1957 at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, N.M. She followed her husband to new assignments in New Mexico, Texas and Michigan. She raised and cared for their seven children while Don served his country.

Roberta F. Brannon age 98 of Waucoma, IA died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma with Rev. Kyle Digmann presiding. 

The pall will be placed by Roberta's great-grandchildren, Cody Udelhofen, Alli Udelhofen, Josie Nyblom, and Brenna Bodensteiner. 

Lectors for the service are Roberta's grandchildren Greg Bodensteiner, Joe Kerner, Denise Udelhofen, and Carla Christiansen. 

Presenting the offertory gifts will be Jenna Nyblom, Ryan Christiansen, Michael Brannon, Brittney Bodensteiner, and Brady Bodensteiner.

Interment will be held in St. Rose Cemetery, rural Waucoma with Richard Adams, Bob Brannon, Bill Pardee, Hugh Brannon, Bruce Adams, and John Brannon serving as pallbearers.
