   Hilaria Kipp, age 94, of Decorah, IA, died on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Wellington Place in Decorah, Iowa.

     Hilaria Clara (Hackman) Kipp was born on February 9, 1923 the daughter of Henry and Clara (Rausch) Hackman on the family farm near St. Lucas, Iowa.  She attended St. Lukes Catholic School.  Hilaria married Edwin Kipp on September 16, 1941 at St. Lukes Catholic Church in St. Lucas.  Together they had three children: Milton, Joyce and Gene.  Hilaria spent her time raising her children and helping Edwin around the farm.  She liked music and even played the accordion for a while.  She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, reading and she prayed the rosary every day.

Dorothy Wurster, formerly of Elgin, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church before the service.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Sabrina Anne Kent, 39, of Wadena died Wednesday evening, Jan. 24, 2018, at her home in Wadena surrounded by her loving family and friends.

A Memorial Mass was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Volga with Rev. John Haugen officiating. 

Inurnment followed at Wadena Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the family for later designation. 

Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Fayette assisted the family with arrangements.

Sabrina Anne, daughter of Myron “Mick” and Susan Kay (Green) Nagle, was born Nov. 8, 1978, in Waterloo.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evansdale.

Maxine Engels, 89, of Rockford, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Des Moines, Iowa.

A Funeral Mass for Maxine Engels was held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Rockford, Iowa, with Monsignor Walter Brunkan as celebrant. 

Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa.

Maxine Verna (Kramer) Engels, the daughter of John and Theresa (Reis) Kramer, was born on Feb. 6, 1928 in Rockford, Iowa. 

She attended country school, St. Mary’s School at Roseville, and graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1945. 

After high school, she met John Engels at a church dance. They were united in marriage on Oct. 29, 1947 at St. Mary’s Church in Roseville, Iowa. This started a more than 50-year love affair that blessed them with 12 children.

Darlene Ruth Heins of West Union died peacefully at her home on the evening of Jan. 26. She was 84.

Darlene was born March 17, 1933, in West Bend, Iowa, to Mollie and Eli Schneider. 

Most of her childhood was spent in Elgin, where she graduated from high school and worked in the office for Dr. Henry Wolf. 

She married Robert Heins on Jan. 21, 1951, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Elgin. She and Bob recently celebrated 67 years of marriage.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Darlene raised her family in two side-by-side houses on Auburn Street, both built by husband Bob. She loved keeping an immaculate house at both addresses. She specialized in decorating for the seasons, especially autumn, Christmas, spring, and summer. Every room was transformed every season with pictures, flowers, and quilts. She was a mother and homemaker and, briefly, a part-time employee at the state liquor store.

Opal Hester Goodrich, 98, of West Union, Iowa and formerly of Prairie City, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in West Union.  

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Prairie City Church of the Brethren.  

Burial will take place at Clark Cemetery near Luther, Iowa.  

The family will greet friends following the service with a luncheon at the church.  

Memorials may be directed to Prairie City Church of the Brethren or Athletes In Action at the University of Iowa.

The daughter of Earl and Mary Susan (Buckingham) Brubaker, Opal was born on Jan. 14, 1920, in Prairie City.  

Opal attended Prairie City schools graduating from high school in 1938.

Lloyd Meier, 92, of Clermont, Iowa died at his home on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018. 

Lloyd was born on Sept. 8, 1925 to Paul and Hattie (Heck) Meier in Guttenberg, Iowa. 

He was privileged to attend and graduate from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Guttenberg, Iowa in 1943.

Lloyd was drafted into the United States Army, serving from November 1943 to April 1946 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. 

After returning from the service, Lloyd worked in his dad’s store, P.J. Meier Square Deal Grocery, in Guttenberg for three years.  He then started working at Security State Bank in Guttenberg. In June 1950 he went to work at Farmers Savings Bank in Clermont, retiring in 1988 as Senior Vice President.

  Lloyd was united in marriage with Adeline Wilken on Aug. 17, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Three children were born to this union.

Rollin Henry Krueger, 85, of Alpha passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

Per his request, he was cremated.

A celebration of Rollin’s life will be held at the Waucoma Event Center from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

Inurnment will be held at the Alpha Cemetery at a later date.

Edna Belle Lindsey, 91, of Decorah, Iowa passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at Wellington Place Nursing Home in Decorah.  Edna Belle, the daughter of Emory and Cleo (White) Hubbartt, was born August 12, 1926 at the family’s rural home in Skylar County, Missouri.  At the age of sixteen, Edna Belle graduated from high school in Lancaster, Missouri.

Barbara Jane (Erickson) Hefty, 73, of Carrollton, Ga., formerly of West Union, died Jan. 9, 2018. 

She was a member of the North High Class of 1962 but moved before she graduated.
