Mary Lou Winter

Mary Lou Winter, age 84, of Lawler, IA died Monday, April 8, 2019, at MercyOne Hospital in New Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler, IA. Interment was held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with John Winter, Brad Winter, David Drahozal, Nick Drahozal, Paul Meirick, Greg Meirick and Tom Meirick serving as pallbearers.

Friends greeted the family from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler. There was a 7:30 p.m. Parish Scripture Service. Visitation continued up to an hour prior to the Mass on Thursday at the church.  Arrangements are entrusted with Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Lawler.  Online condolences may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com  

Lavanna Frey

Lavanna Jean Frey, daughter of C. “Albert” and Emma F. (Goeken) Knipp, was born February 22, 1929, at her parents’ residence in Keystone, IA. Lavanna was dedicated to the Lord by her parents according to their Lutheran faith, expressed through the Sacrament of Baptism on March 7, 1929, by Rev. A.W. Brauer. Her sponsors were Mrs. Charles (Emma) Knipp and Mrs. William (Elva) Thede. We believe she went to country school and then was educated at Keystone Lutheran School probably until 7th and 8th grade. When 13, she was confirmed as a proclamation of faith according to Lutheran tradition on March 29, 1942, by Rev. A.W. Brauer at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Lavanna was a graduate of the Keystone High School in 1946 and then graduated with a degree in cosmetology from Paris Beauty Academy in Cedar Rapids in 1947.

Harvey E. Guenther, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner.

Billee Conner

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 13, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in West Union for Beulah “Billee” Conner.

Family and friends are invited to attend.

Billee Conner was born October 25, 1923 and died October 16, 2018.

Dale Bodensteiner

Services were held for Dale Raymond Bodenteiner 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the St. Luke’s Catholic Church, St. Lucas, Iowa. The clergy in charge were Rev. Aaron Junge and Rev. Benedict Croell. 

Dale Raymond Bodensteiner, age, 64, of St. Lucas, Iowa passed away on March 25, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union, IA where he was a resident for the past two years.    

Howard Landas

Howard Franklin Landas, 88, of Fayette, Iowa died Friday, March 29, 2019 at Maple Crest Manor, Fayette, Iowa. He was born April 8, 1930 to William and Daisy (Brooks) Landas on the family farm near Lima, Iowa. Howard was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith as an adult. He graduated from Fayette High School in 1947.

Anna Marie Jespersen

Anna Marie Jespersen, 96, of West Union, Iowa died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa.

Services will be held in South Dakota at a later date.

Andrea Rose

Andrea Rose, 38, of Hawkeye, Iowa died Saturday, March 23, 2019.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen as the officiant.

Visitation will follow the Celebration of Life until 7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, Iowa.

Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation of West Union, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.

Marjorie Strudthoff

Marjorie Studthoff, 85, of West Union, Iowa died Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society, West Union, Iowa.

Lavanna Frey, 90, a long time resident of West Union,  died March 20, 2019.
