Delores Dummermuth

 

Delores Dummermuth, 87, of Elgin, Iowadied Monday, June 3, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union, Iowa.  Delores Elaine, the daughter of Dale and Laura (Clark) Knox, was born June 30, 1931 in Hawkeye, Iowa. She graduated from Randalia High School and attended Pitzi’s Beauty School in Waterloo.  Delores was united in marriage with William Andrew Dummermuth on October 15, 1950. Three children, Ranae, Jay D. and Dee J., were born to this union.

Delores and William lived and farmed near Elgin, Iowa.  They retired and moved into Elgin in 2011.  In addition to helping on the farm, Delores worked as a teacher’s aide for several years with Valley Community Schools and also worked at Hardee’s in West Union.

Delores was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and U.M.W. in Elgin. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing Bingo and belonged to a few card clubs with her husband, William.

 Richard Leo Meyer of Burnsville, MN, died Thursday, May 30.

A memorial service and reception to celebrate Rich’s life will be held on Friday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, West 50th St. and Hwy. 100. Ph. 952-920-3996.

 Richard Meyer was born August 11, 1940 in West Union, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University and was a very active member of Alpha Gamma Rho. He began his working career with American Cyanamid calling on vet clinics. After working in the vet industry for 50 plus years, he knew the vet in your town! Richard truly enjoyed people and he will be missed by all.

 Richard is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice, Burnsville, MN: two children, Julie Thien, son-in-law David Thien, Council Bluffs, IA; son, Paul Meyer and daughter-in-law, Mary, Edina MN; four grandchildren, Sydney Thien and Kori Thien, Jack Meyer and William Meyer and his dog, Bogey.

Dean Charles Timm, age 86, of Boone, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

Dean was born May 18, 1933 in Hawkeye, Iowa to Ervin & Verla (Gager) Timm.  He was the fourth of eight children.  He graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1951.  He served in the United States Army 1955-1957 as an MP stationed in Germany.

Dennis W. Copp, 66, of Sumner, and formerly of Hawkeye, died unexpectedly, Monday, June 3, 2019, at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital and Clinics in West Union. 

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner with Rev. Tracy Hinkel officiating. Burial was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Hawkeye Cemetery with military rites conducted by Thomas E. Woods Post #223, American Legion of Sumner. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 7, 2019 at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner and for one hour preceding services at the church on Saturday. Victoria Anna Schmitt, 90, of West Union, Iowa died Friday, June 7th, 2019 at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in West Union surrounded by her family. Victoria was born on the family farm on February 6th, 1929 in rural St. Lucas, Iowa to Nick and Frances (Schaufenbuel) Kuennen. Victoria was baptized on February 7th, 1929 in St. Luke’s Church in St. Lucas. She received her education at St. Luke’s Catholic School and graduated in 1947. Victoria attended one year of nurse’s training at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Dubuque, Iowa. Victoria left nursing school prior to completion to marry her childhood sweetheart.

Gerald “Jerry” Raymond Ollendieck, age 79, of Ridgeway, Iowa, passed peacefully Monday, May 27, 2019, at home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the Notre Dame Catholic Church on Friday, May 31, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. with Father Daniel Knipper officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation was  held Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mass of Christian Burial was held for Marian Matilda Hosper Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 11 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Calmar, Iowa.

Marian Matilda Hosper, age 86, of Calmar, IA, was met by the angels at Barthell Eastern Star Home in Decorah and carried home to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.

  Marian was born November 12, 1932 to Frank and Mayme (Holub) Klimesh.  She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School through her sophomore year and graduated from Calmar High School.

  Marian married David Charles Hosper on August 16, 1952.  Together they raised three sons.  Marian was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the Rosary Society for over 66 years.  She was employed at the Bucheit Grocery Store, NorEg, and joined her husband in running the family business (Winco Farm Supply) that they purchased in 1980. She worked there until a couple of years ago when her health began to fail.

Deloris Lorraine Olson was born on July 5, 1925, at home, to Willie and Lena (Kjosa) Bergan in rural St. Olaf, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Postville High School in 1944 after having taken a year off due to a lack of transportation to school.

Deloris passed away on May 31, 2019 at All Saints Assisted Living/Memory Care in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 93.
