A memorial service for Gayle (Crandall) Fisher will be held on Saturday, July 20.

The service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union at 10:30 am, followed by a simple lunch at the church.

Gayle passed away on March 31, 2019.

Jon R. Mitchell, 76, of Arlington, Iowa passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, July 2, 2019 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church in Arlington with Rev. Margaret Yackel-Juleen officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, 310 Main Street, Arlington, Iowa and for one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Interment: Taylorsville Cemetery, Arlington.

Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution later.

Bessie Smith

Bessie E. Smith, 90, of Oelwein, Iowa died on Monday evening, June 24, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union.

Funeral Service were held at  11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, rural Oelwein, Iowa with Jim Lawless leading the service.

Visitation was held one hour before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Interment was in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Memorial Fund were listed as the  March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.

Clara Trapp

Clara Trapp, 92, died June 20, 2019 at The Stratford in Carmel, Indiana. A memorial service will be held July 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. St. Peter Lutheran Church, 28884 State Street, Eldorado/West Union, Iowa (563-422-5445) with lunch following at the church.  Graveside service will take place at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery, 1350 West 12^th Street, Cedar Falls, Iowa (319-268-7222). Following internment, an open-house gathering will take place from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Montage restaurant, 222 Main Street, Cedar Falls (319-268-7222). Joan and Lynne invite all friends and family to attend.

Rita Manderfield

Rita R. Manderfield, 94, of West Union and formerly of Fayette, died Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in West Union. 

Patrice Trice

Patrice E. Trice, 80, of Dubuque, passed away on June 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Pat was born on July 21, 1938 in Dubuque, the daughter of Hilda (Seipp) and Edward Brom. She married Edgar “Ed” Trice on February 16, 1961. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2007. They had one son, Brian.  She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first.  

She is survived by her son Brian of Chicago, Ill; her sisters, Janice Brom of Ossian, IA and Dianne Kruchek of Alden, IA; her brother and brother-in-law, M. Anthony Brom and Darrel Differing of Cathedral City, CA; sister-in-law, Sue Brom of Bremerton, WA; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Lewis Donaghey of Trenton, TX and many nieces and nephews.  

Mary Hinkel

An informal Celebration of Life service for Mary Hinkel will be held at 2 p.m. on July 5 at the United Methodist Church, West Union.

 Mary died March 19, 2019.
