Advocating for a healthier school environment is part of the overall goal for Valley, North Fayette, and North Fayette Valley staff and students involved in a wellness program that engages both districts. Recently, 97 staff members from both districts participated in a competition that encouraged weight loss and physical activity.
Stephanie Wagner, school nurse at NFV, explained that the competition began in late January and was designed as a team event.
“Teams of no less than two and no more than five people reported weekly activity minutes and held weigh-ins every other week. The competition was based on total minutes accumulated and the percentage of weight lost,” said the wellness proponent.
