The Women of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Elgin invite you to come and ring the church bell in observance of International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8.  You are invited to enjoy rolls, muffins and coffee anytime between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., or if you cannot stop in during those hours, come anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to ring our church bell.

“I’m excited for what is to come,” said NF Principal Todd Wolverton as he opened the question-and-answer session for Valley students and parents attending the open house Friday at North Fayette.

Many of the Valley patrons took advantage of the open house to tour the West Union facility, meet teachers, and take part in the question-and-answer session.

A pair of freshmen at West Central hope to plant the seeds of good health – both literally and figuratively.

Brianna Morey and Ashley Buzynski gave a presentation to their school's board of education recently, describing their interest in building a greenhouse on school property.

The girls and their mentor, Katie Lay of the Northeast Iowa Food & Fitness team, told board members that wellness committee members made a presentation outlining the steps they've taken to increase awareness of healthy lifestyles at West Central.

North Fayette to host high school open house

North Fayette High School is hosting an open house for students and parents from Valley on Friday, Feb. 22. The building will be open for parents and students to tour starting at 6 p.m. Hawk Helpers will be in attendance to serve as guides, as well as teachers to answer questions that people may have.

At 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) Principal Todd Wolverton will lead a question-and-answer session. He will provide some information about some of the differences that students will encounter when they start the school year. He will then field questions about anything that is on the minds of students and parents about what is in store for North Fayette Valley High School starting next fall.

With each friendly wave, which are often accompanied by words of encouragement and well wishes, Allen Schott is provided a boost of energy in every step that he takes on his daily walk in Clermont. It’s been just over a year since the then 46-year-old suffered a heart attack and it is an experience that he certainly doesn’t want to relive again.
