Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, for Vanese L. Bantz at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Pastor Joshua Hester officiating.  Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Visitation was from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the funeral home.  On line condolences may be left at www.White-MtHope.com.  A Memorial Fund has been established.  White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. 

Vanese L. Bantz, 54 years old, of Fayette, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, October 15, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.  She was born on July 1, 1967, in Independence, the daughter of Dennis Verlou and Roschelle Joyce (King) Hoskins.  She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1986.  She then earned an Associates Degree from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa.  On March 8, 1986, she and Royce Daniel Bantz were married in Jesup, Iowa.  Mrs. Bantz was an optometrist’s assistant in Oelwein.  She attended the 7th Day Adventist Church in Hawkeye, Iowa.  In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and caring for the family’s dogs.  She also enjoyed watching documentaries and crime shows on TV.  Most of all, she enjoyed simply being a “Mom”.  

 Mrs. Bantz is survived by her husband of 35 years, Royce, 1 son, Mason Bantz of Waverly, Iowa, 1 daughter, Cheyenne (Dein) Gosse of Oelwein, Iowa, and her mother, Shelle (Larry) Nabholz of Aurora, Iowa.  She is also survived by 1 brother, Dwayne (Sonja) Hoskins of Leesburg, Virginia, 3 half-sisters, Anita (Konrad) Vicini of Sonora, California, Rachel (Mathew) Hogan of Park Rapids, Minnesota, and Tina Stone of Surprise, Arizona, and a life-long friend Barbara Ramlo.  

 

She was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents.
