The North Fayette Valley girls’ basketball team secured its first-ever Upper Iowa Conference title Monday night after defeating MFL/MarMac, 49-40.

“I want to congratulate the ladies on a great season. This was well earned.” said coach Jim Calkins after the victory. “It was a major goal for this team, but we also have other goals left to accomplish. We need to play our best basketball during this last month of the season!”

The girls finished 15-0 in conference play. More coverage from the game, including individual statistics, will be available in next week’s Union-Echo-Leader.
