Irvin Holder

 

Irvin John Holder, 68, of Hawkeye, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was born June 28, 1952 in West Union to Irvin Sr. and Lucille (Otter) Holder. Irvin attended Holy Name School until May 27, 1966 through the eighth grade and graduated North Fayette High School on May 24, 1970. He helped farmers after school.

 

Irvin proudly served his country in the United States Army from August 1972 to 1974. He was the 1stCav Div and served in Korea for a year. Irvin was united in marriage with Connie Mannion on March 6, 1971 at Holy Name Catholic Church in West Union. They made their home on the family farm near Hawkeye. In 1974, Irvin went to work for Barker on the grading crew and in 1989 went to work for the Alpha Maintence Shop in Fayette County, where he retired on July 24, 2015.

 

Irvin enjoyed animals and all the dogs that came to visit and stay from Don Butikofer. He loved watching old Westerns and Hogan’s Heros.

 

Surviving Irvin are his wife, Connie Holder of Hawkeye, Iowa; his children, Mike (Beth) Holder of Stout, Iowa and Tina (Dean) Wentworth of Cresco, Iowa; adopted daughter, Pam (Gerald) Walvatne; grandchildren, Noah and Anna Holder, Laura Wentworth, Hailey and Lucas Walvatne; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Don Butikofer, together they were referred to as Heckyl and Jeckyl by their coworkers. Irvin was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin Sr. and Lucille Holder.

 

There will be a Visitation held from 1-3 pm with a 12:30 pm Scripture Service on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in West Union, Iowa.

 

Due to Covid-19, Masks and social distancing are required.

 

Burial will be held at a later date in the West Union Cemetery, West Union, Iowa.

 

Burnham-Wood-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
