John Hoblit

 

John A Hoblit of West Union died January 1, 2021 at Copper Creek Senior Living Home in West Union. He was born to Ida and Charles Hoblit December 12, 1940, on a farm near Rock Falls, Iowa. He attended school at Rock Falls High School, graduating in 1958.

After graduation from High School, John served in the United States Army from February 1, 1961 to February 1, 1964. He was in France and achieved the rank of Specialist Fifth class.

He attended the University of Iowa and graduated with an accounting and management degree. While attending college, he married Linda Byl of Mason City, Iowa. Upon graduating from the University of Iowa, John secured a position with Interstate Power Company. He worked for them at Mason City, Dubuque, Oelwein and West Union, Iowa, retiring as a manager in 1995 while at West Union, Iowa.

John was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed cribbage and golfing with his wife and friends Bill Nelson, John LaGrange, and Fred Mittan.

Preceding him in death are his infant son Christopher, his parents Charles and Ida Hoblit, his brother Clair Hoblit and his wife Dorothy, his sister Marvel (Hoblit) Wagner and her husband Vern, one brother-in-law Art Johnson, one nephew Paul Wagner, and one great niece Sarah Ann Wolfe.

Survivors are his wife, Linda of West Union, sister Audrey Johnson of Clarksville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the American Legion, West Union, Iowa.
