The North Fayette Valley bowling team took to the lanes for its second matchup of the season Friday afternoon as the boys’ and girls’ teams took on Charles City.

“Despite the girls and boys continuing to set new school records, it just wasn’t enough to beat Charles City,” said coach Leland Ellis after the meet. “Charles City is consistently one of the best programs in the state, and this year is no different.”

The Tigerhawk boys lost by a score of 2,548 to 2,815. NFV’s effort included the second-best baker game in school history with a 231.

Individual scores were as follows: James Baumler (192, 171, 363), Brice Burgin (107, 135, 242), Thomas Sadler (162, 123, 285), Connor McMurray (160, 140, 300), Mason Brown-Gonnerman (176, 186, 362), and Kelton Loomis (157, 130, 287). The team’s baker rotation was 231, 193, 180, 173, 174.

For the TigerHawk girls, the team recorded its second highest meet total in school history with 2,144 – just one pin short of the school record it set last week.

The team bowled its highest baker game (189) and third highest baker game (171) in school history as well.

Individual scores were as follows: Emily Tieskoetter (190, 139, 329), Hailey Wurzer (153, 148, 301), Erika Woodson (108, 134, 242), Breanna Baumler (157, 100, 257), Emma Kuhn (99, 125, 224), and Britney Brehm (117, 121, 238). The team’s baker rotation was 189, 158, 106, 153, and 171.

“I really enjoy bowling against Charles City because it lets us know where we need to be if we want to make it to State,” said Coach Ellis. “I would like to thank the Owners and Staff of Comet Bowl for being great hosts and supporters of High School Bowling.  I would also like to thank the Spectators, a few Charles City parents came over to cheer on our girls which was very nice.  Even though we lost, I am very proud of our bowlers for continuing to improve each week and for how well they performed.”
