Neil Schwake 81, of Fayette passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

A private family service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church in Buck Creek, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the summer 2021.

Neil was born on May 10, 1939 in Dayton Township, Bremer County, Iowa to Gerhardt W. and Edna (Moeller) Schwake. After graduation from Sumner High School in 1957, Neil attended Iowa State University, earning a degree in Agronomy in 1962. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1962 until 1968.

He was united in marriage to Peggy Lamprecht on June 23, 1963 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner. Neil raised hogs and cropped farmed in Bremer and Fayette County. Neil was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in West Union, where he served on the council. He was an active member of the Pork Producers, Soybean Association, Corn Growers Association, Republican Central Community, Bremer County Extension Council, Bremer County Farm Bureau, Fayette County Farm Bureau, serving as President from 1990 until 1991, and American Legion Post 339 in Fayette, serving as Commander from 2008 until 2009.

Neil is survived by his wife, Peggy Schwake of Fayette; children, Mark Schwake of Oelwein, Christine (Clarence) Schmitt of Marble Rock, Iowa, Warren (Nicole) Schwake of Sumner, Karl Schwake of Fayette, and Amy (Brian) Moon of Alpine, Wyoming; siblings, Julene (Larry) Lee of Independence, Carolyn (Jerry) Biermann of Elgin, and Gerry (Barbara) Schwake of Sumner; and six grandchildren, Ian Schwake, Anna Schwake, Andrew Schmitt, Joseph Schmitt, Marian Schmitt, and Jacob Schmitt.

His parents, brother, Donley and a sister in infancy, Janola, preceded him in death.
