Holiday Lights soon ready for visitors

Helping Services for Youth & Families is grateful to bring back Holiday Lights for the 16th season, at Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah. Holiday Lights is a fundraiser for Helping Services for Youth & Families, a nonprofit organization with programs that promote healthier and safer families and youth residing throughout Northeast Iowa.

Thanks to the help of volunteers, Holiday Lights will be ready for drive-through visitors on Wednesday, November 25. For the 2020 event we have been working closely with Winneshiek County Public Health to assure both guests and volunteers are safe. Safety is our number one priority and these conversations led to safety precautions, such as volunteers wearing proper face coverings. Another safety precaution is the 2020 Holiday Lights season will be drive-through only. Many have come to love the opening Walk-through Night the day before Thanksgiving as a tradition to kick off the holidays but there will be no walk-through night for the 2020 season. We are hopeful to bring this back in future seasons.

Holiday Lights is open nightly from 5:00 to 9:00 pm for drive-through visitors starting on Thanksgiving “eve’” night, November 25 through December 27th. On opening night, souvenir tote bags will be handed out (one to each car) to the first 200 cars to mark the beginning of the season.  Santa will be at Holiday Lights on opening night from 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm as well Fridays through Sundays from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in December until Christmas Eve. Returning this year is a live fireworks display on Thursday, December 3rd, starting at 6:30 p.m. behind the athletic fields in downtown Decorah after the Holiday Parade.

A free-will donation will be collected as you enter the gates of Holiday Lights. All donations benefit Helping Services for Youth & Families. For the complete schedule and list of sponsors, please visit www.helpingservices.org/holidaylights.
