Adelaide Hollinrake

 

Adelaide F. Hollinrake, 92 of Maynard, Iowa and formerly of Seaton, Illinois and Flat Rock, Newfoundland, Canada died Wednesday morning, November 11, 2020 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette.

A Private Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette with Rev. Donald Komboh officiating. Inurnment: At a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Keithsburg, Illinois.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed in her name to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s’ Association.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings and the recent surge in the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing will be required.  Those in attendance are required to wear a mask at the church.  We encourage relatives and friends not able to attend the service to reach out to the family by leaving a message on the funeral home web site, by mail, text or phone.

Adelaide Frances Houlihan was born May 8, 1928 at Flat Rock St. John East Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of John Francis and Mary C. (Stack) Houlihan.  She graduated from St. Michael’s High School in Flat Rock and received her teaching degree from Littledale College for Girls in St. John East Newfoundland, Canada.  

On December 31, 1960, she was united in marriage to Donald James Hollinrake at St. Sebastian in West Los Angeles, California.  Adelaide and Donald farmed in Illinois from 1970 until their retirement in 1999.  She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Fayette, Iowa.  Adelaide and Don enjoyed traveling throughout the world, thanks to their daughter Trish.

Adelaide is survived by her husband: Donald Hollinrake of West Union; 5 children: Teresa (Tim) Carrigan of Merlin, Oregon, Mary Clark of Victoria, Illinois, Timothy (Jami) Hollinrake of Fayette, Patricia Hollinrake of Irving, Texas and David Hollinrake of Raleigh, North Carolina; 9 grandchildren: Danielle, Jenni Jo and Chase Hollinrake, James, Anjay and Jason Clark, Andrew Hollinrake and Allison and Scott Landrum; Brother: Michael Houlihan of Flat Rock, Newfoundland, Canada; brother-in-law: Gerald A. Hollinrake of Malibu, California; 2 sisters-in-law, JoAnn (Roger) Cummings of Monmouth, Illinois and  Kathleen (Ronald) Schwitzer of New Port Richey, Florida; and many nieces and nephews in the United States and Newfoundland, Canada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother at infancy: Thomas Houlihan; son-in-law: John Clark; and a sister-in-law: Margaret Houlihan.
