Frieden, Hermen, Thomas all win Elgin Council seats

In a six-way race for three At-large council seats, Bob Frieden was the top vote getter according to unofficial results from the Nov. 5, Elgin City election. He had 126 votes.

Next in line was Stephanie Hermen with 90 votes, then Brian Thomas with 83. All three were elected to the Council.

Sarah Rose trailed Thomas by only four votes, 79,  to come up short in the running. The final canvass is Tuesday, Nov. 11. That will determine whether these results will be final.

The other candidates were James Johnson, 46 votes, and incumbent Ronald Hills, 44 votes. 

“I want to thank the voters. I will try whatever I can do to serve the community. Enjoyed when I was on before, so I’m wiling to serve and help out with community again. I plan to get a handle on the issues once I get in,” Frieden said.

Clermont

In Clermont, Mayor James Matt was re-elected with 61 votes.

Troy Schott and Dina Taylor both had 59 votes and were elected  to the City Council.

Arlington

Mayor Donald Handel was re-elected with 44 votes.

The three At-large seats were won by Denise Palas, 38 votes; Diane Bond, 44 votes; and Alan Shaffer, 42 votes.

Wadena

Jared Kent had 32 votes to retain his position as Mayor.

Three At-large council members were elected: Randall Weber, 29 votes, Richard Aeschliman, 28 votes and Cameron McDowell, 33 votes.
