Several election races to watch in Winneshiek Co.

With the deadline to file paperwork for City and School coming and passing on Thursday, there looks to be several races to watch across Winneshiek County for the upcoming City/School election on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Several of those contested races will occur in Ossian and one on the South Winneshiek school board.

In Ossian, both current councilperson Bryan Beckman and former mayor Chuck Covell will vie for the mayoral seat, while four individuals will vie for three open vacancies on the council.

Incumbent candidates Dan Langreck and Sue Lienau are among the four running, as are Graham Goltz and Rodney Hemesath.

On the South Winneshiek Community Schood District ballot, four candidates will challenge for two director at-large vacancies this fall.

Incumbent Corey Meyer (district 2) will be on the ballot, along with new challengers Ron Hemesath, Tom Bushman, and Kenan Willey.

Incumbent (at-large) candidate Don Schroeder will be the only name on the ballot for the district 2 vacancy.
