Marilyn Dahl, 82, of Oelwein, died on Friday morning, March 22, 2019 at the Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein.

Memorial Service were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Pastor Joshua Schunk officiating.

Visitation was held 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Inurnment: Will be at a later date.

Memorials may be directed in her name to Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein, or The Williams Center for the Arts, Oelwein.

Marilyn Audrey Eide was born September 15, 1936, at West Union, Iowa, the daughter of Milton Irving and Agnes Charlotte (Hegland) Eide.  She graduated from West Union High School in 1954 and received her teaching degrees from Iowa State Teachers College and Upper Iowa University. 

On August 16, 1958, she was united in marriage to Jerry Edward Dahl at Zion Lutheran Church in West Union.  Marilyn taught for over 35 years.  She taught in Marion, West Central and Oelwein schools.  She was proud of her heritage and community. 

She actively supported and participated at Zion Lutheran Church, PEO, McDowell Club, Tuesday Tourists, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, I Club, RSVP, Oelwein Plaza Board, United Way Board and the Northeast Iowa Charitable Foundation Board.  She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes.   Her grandchildren were her greatest treasures.

Marilyn is survived by her 2 daughters: Tracy (Steve) Grasso of Johnston and Melanie (John) McQuaig of Wenatchee, Washington; 4 grandchildren: Alex (Kelsey) Grasso of Johnston, Sam (Katherine) Grasso of El Paso, Texas, Marit McQuaig of Madison, Wisconsin and

Gwen McQuaig of Wenatchee, Washington; 2 great grandchildren: Julia and Graham Grasso of Johnston; sister: Lorna Bernau of West Union;

brother: Morris “Bud” (Janice) Eide of Elkader; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on January 5, 2013; and a brother-in-law, AD Bernau.
