Lillian Elvira Gunderson, 92, of Clinton, Iowa formerly of Clermont, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at Eagle Point Care Center in Clinton, Iowa.

Lillian Elvira was born April 22, 1926 on a farm in Kenyon, Minnesota to Emil and Tillie (Reierson) Johnson. She attended country schools in Kenyon, Minnesota and also Dry Run in St. Olaf, Iowa, public school in Elkader, Iowa and graduated from Clermont High School.

Lillian was united in marriage with Martin Gunderson in August 1951 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Before she was married, Lillian worked at Penick and Ford Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and another factory in Minnesota. After she was married, Lillian was a homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, scrapbooking, vegetable and flower gardening, writing to her thirty to forty pen pals, collecting rebates, listening to Polka music, traveling and fishing with her husband, Martin.

Lillian is survived by her daughter, Roselyn (Ken) Sherman of Blue Grass, Iowa; and one granddaughter, Valerie Sherman of Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin; an infant daughter, Rosalie Madelon; grandson, Brent Sherman; and her parents, Emil and Tillie Johnson.

  Visitation was Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clermont, Iowa with a one hour visitation before services at the church on Friday.

Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at West Clermont Lutheran Church in Clermont, Iowa with Rev. Phillip Olson as the Officiant.

Burial followed at God’s Acres, Clermont, Iowa.

Memorials may be given for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont, Iowa is helping the family with arrangements.
