Elaine Wurzer, age 77, of St. Lucas, Iowa passed away on Dec. 11, 2018, at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, IA.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at St. Luke Catholic Church in St. Lucas with the Rev. Aaron Junge celebrating the Mass.

Interment was in the church cemetery with Brian Wurzer, Mike Van Sickle, Kyle Wirtz, Jared Van Sickle, Chad Wurzer, Joshua Wurzer, Austin Wirtz, and Wyatt Van Sickle as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers were Montana Van Sickle, Lewis Wurzer, Kadin Corkery, and Jack Wurzer.

Arrangements were handled by Schluter-Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.

Elaine, the daughter of John and Loretta (Schmitt) Korzendorfer, was born March 28, 1941, in New Hampton, Iowa.  

She graduated from Waucoma High School in 1959. 

On Nov. 25, 1961, she was united in marriage with Kenneth Wurzer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waucoma, Iowa.  They farmed together near St. Lucas all of their married life.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; children Brian (fiancée Shelly) Wurzer of Fredericksburg, Keri Wirtz of Waterloo, Kris (Mike) Van Sickle of West Union and Chad Wurzer of Saint Lucas; grandchildren Josh, Kyle, Austin, Montana (fiancé Ben), Jared, Wyatt, Kadin, Lewis and Jack; a great-grandchild, Skylar; a  brother, Jerry (Pat) Korzendorfer of Fort Atkinson; a sister, Judy (Tom) Canfield of Ames; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Emma McGrath of Atascedro, Calif., Adrian Wurzer of Marion, Texas, Betty Wurzer of Lawler, Elaine (Maurice) Collins of Decorah, Edward (Norma) Wurzer of West Union; numerous nieces and nephews.

Elaine was preceded in death by her son Steve (1990); her parents, John and Loretta (Schmitt) Korzendorfer; her mother- and father-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth Wurzer; brothers- and sisters-in-law Carl and Theresa Kuehner, Florian and Pat Wurzer,  Greg and Helene Wurzer, Edgar Wurzer, Shirley Wurzer, Faith Wurzer, Laverne and Toni Kipp, Clem and Barb Wurzer, and Jim and Jeannie Cole.      51u51
