Trick-or-treating times

Halloween is almost here! That means trick-or-treating is just around the corner. Here is a list of local trick-or-treating times in the area:

        • Festina – Tuesday, Oct. 30 – 5 to 7 p.m.

• Ossian – Wednesday, Oct. 31 – 5:30 until porch lights are no longer lit
• Calmar – 5 to 8 p.m. (Trunk or Treat will be at 5:30 in the City parking lot west of the post office)
• Spillville – 6 p.m.
• Decorah – 5 to 8 p.m.

Trick-or-treaters are reminded to only approach homes that have a porch light on during the specified times. 

Some other safety reminders to keep in mind on Halloween night are to ensure children are wearing warm, comfortable, and visible costumes while they are out and about. Also, it is a good idea to check your children’s candy at the end of the night and to throw away any pieces that are not in their original wrappers or look as though they may have been tampered with.
