Robert (Bob) Howard Wilson, 88, died Wednesday Sept. 5, 2018, in the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA, following a short illness. 

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 10, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Fayette. 

Robert is survived by his two daughters, Patsy McNaughton and husband Gil McNaughton of Roland, Iowa, and Martha Wilson of Van Horne, Iowa; five grandchildren, Donovan McNaughton and wife Morgan McNaughton of Virginia Beach, Va., Bonnie Castro of McCallsburg, Iowa, Patrick McNaughton of Stevens Point, Wis., Andre Banks Jr. and fiancée Kasie Jakell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Nicole Banks of Van Horne, Iowa; seven great-grandchildren, Lily, Fergus, Connor, Estella, Ryder, Marquez, and DeAndre.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Christine J. Wilson.

Robert was born April 4, 1930 near Fayette, Ia., as an only child to Clyde Curtis and Francis Viola (Pattison) Wilson.

On Aug. 20, 1961, he married Christine Jones at the Methodist Church in Randalia, IA. The couple lived in Fayette for 14 years before moving to Van Horne in 1978.  

Robert remained in his home until 2017, when he moved into his daughter Patsy's home. He remained with her until August 2018, then moved into the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Robert served in the Korean War, was honorably discharged, and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Robert was a farmer, a plumber, a carpenter, and a postal worker. 

He was a volunteer for the police force and a medical First Responder in Fayette, IA.     

Robert retired from the U.S. Postal Service as Postmaster of Van Horne, IA. 

Robert was an amateur radio operator, a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the American Legion.
