Tim Burkey, 57, of Hawkeye and formerly of Maynard, Iowa died Sunday afternoon, April 15, 2018 at Unity Point – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Hawkeye Community Hall in Hawkeye with Pastor Dan Hanson officiating.

Timothy Lee Burkey was born Nov. 8, 1960 in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Marvin Keith and Janet Joyce (Rabe) Burkey.  

Marvin died when Tim was very young. His mom later married Delbert Leverington.  

In 1979, Tim graduated from West Central High School in Maynard. He then attended Luther College and Hawkeye Community College.  

On April 27, 1985, he was united in marriage with Teri Ann Moore at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. 

Tim was employed for 32 years at Blessing/IDEAL Industries.  

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard.  

Tim was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Brewer and West Central Blue Devil fan. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, recreational sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Tim is survived by his wife: Teri Burkey of Hawkeye; daughter: Stephanie Burkey of Waverly; son: Michael Burkey of Hawkeye; mother: Janet Leverington (Ed Lundahl) of Independence; brother: Doug Burkey of Oelwein; sister: Beth (Lyle) Behrend of Luana; two stepbrothers: Richard (Marlene) Leverington of Texas and Delbert (Claire) Leverington, Jr. of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law: Cheryl Moore of Oelwein; brother-in-law: Randy (Julie) Moore of Westgate; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two fathers: Marvin Burkey and Delbert Leverington; parents-in-law: Dennis and Ellie Moore; three sisters-in-law: Margy Burkey, Kathy Burkey and Lori Schmitt; three brothers-in-law: Robbie Casey, Paul Schmitt, and Rick Lenth; niece: Gina Prevenas; and best friend: Doug Pagel.
