Letha M. Haines, 97, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of the Waucoma area, died Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at Waucoma Cemetery with lay servant Mona Christie officiating.

Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye is assisting Letha’s family.

Letha Mae, daughter of Alfred and Nellie Bradley Haines, was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Waucoma, Iowa.

She received her education in Canadian schools following her family’s move there.

Letha served with the Women’s Army Corps for six years during World War II and worked in civil service in Minneapolis for many years prior to retiring and moving to Cedar Rapids in the 1990s. 

She is survived by two nieces, Carol Davis of Cedar Rapids and Marsha Haines of Chicago; two nephews, George (Karen) Davis of East Troy, Wis., and Mark Haines of West Union. 

In addition to her parents, Letha was preceded in death by one brother, James Haines, and one sister, Bernice Davis.           15u15
