Brenda McDanel

Brenda McDanel, 57, of Boone, formerly of West Union, died at her home in Boone on Feb. 10, 2018.

  Following her wishes, Brenda was cremated.  

A Memorial Service was held Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel in Boone, officiated by Pastor Bruce Thomas.

  Brenda Ann McDanel was born in New Hampton, Iowa on Feb. 10, 1961, the daughter of Leo and Helen (Moellers) Franzen.  

She graduated from North High School in West Union.  

On July 12, 1984, Brenda married Monte McDanel in Boone, Iowa.  

Brenda was a wife, mother, and homemaker.  She loved spending time with her family and attending family reunions. 

Brenda enjoyed crafts, and she was artistic in painting and wood burning. She also enjoyed fishing, especially at Big Creek, cooking, and watching cooking shows and the Hallmark and Lifetime channels on television.

  Brenda was preceded in death by her father, a brother Alan, and a great-nephew, Robert Nass.  

She is survived by her husband, Monte, of Boone; her six children and her grandchildren, Timothy McDanel; Jessica McDanel and her children, Eysak, Kyran, Jadyn, and Rylen; Natasha (Cal) Holmstrom and their daughter Olivia; Mason McDanel; Shaylia (Leon) Borgomainerio and their children, Aleaya and Azalyn; and Mylan (Emily) McDanel and their son Morris; her mother, Helen Franzen of West Union; five brothers, Michael (Donna) Franzen, Brian (Rose) Franzen, Bruce (Debbie) Franzen, Lester Franzen, and Carl (Niki) Franzen; four sisters, Maggie O’Brien, Amy (Floyd) Hemesath, Laura Lubka, and Karen Myrah; a sister-in-law, Kim Franzen; numerous nieces and nephews.

In memory of Brenda, memorials may be directed to the family or the Iowa Kidney Foundation.
