Mike Fielding was instrumental in establishing the British Exchange program at North Fayette High School.

In 1985, Steve Story, principal of North Fayette High School, visited Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, northeast of Manchester, England, in the Ribble Valley. Clitheroe is located along the Lancashire-Yorkshire border. He met with Mike Fielding, Eddie Murphy (both teachers) and Clive Darley (headmaster). Arrangements were made for North Fayette students to travel to Clitheroe in the summer of 1986 and Clitheroe students to arrive in West Union in March-April 1987.

Mike and his wife, Val, accompanied Clitheroe students to West Union on many exchanges and will be remembered fondly by North Fayette students and their parents.

If interested in contacting Val Fielding, her mailing address may be obtained from United Methodist Church, West Union.  30u30
