Rosella M. Hudachek, 86, of Iowa City, passed away November 6, 2015, at Mercy Hospital Hospice in Iowa City.

 

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Sunday, November 15th at the Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City with burial following at Lone Tree Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials in Rosella’s name may be made to the Rosella Hudachek Memorial Fund.  Online condolences can be sent to her family at www.gayandciha.com.

 

Rosella was born May 10, 1929; daughter of Emma and Reynold Strong and grew up the oldest of five children on their farm in Fayette County.  She graduated from Elgin High School and The University of Northern Iowa and taught school in New Albin, Iowa before marrying Raymond “Butch” Hudachek in August of 1951.  After marriage, they settled near Lone Tree on the farm they would raise their family on and call home for the next 40 years, until Butch’s death in 1990.

 

She loved music, playing the piano, organ and attending various local musical events.  She was also an excellent seamstress and often made, mended and tailored her children’s and grandchildren’s clothing.  She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Iowa City and the Christian Women’s Club. 

 

Her family includes her children, Randy (Lynn) Hudachek of Iowa City; Sheri (Ron) Lantz of Battle Creek, MI, Brian (Diane) Hudachek of Lone Tree, Brent (Sandi) Hudachek of Hills and Rini Hudachek of Iowa City; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Earle (Jeanette) Strong, Duane (Sara) Strong, Jeanie (Jerry) Hinkel and sister-in-law, Jewell Strong.

 

Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Lowell and sister-in-law, Oma Lee.
