The Warrior boys’ track team was in action Friday afternoon, April 10, at the Postville Coed Invite.

The Warriors edged Central-Elkader by a half-point to take top honors in the event.

South Winn took home top honors in five individual events. Ben Meyer breezed to a first-place finish in the 400-meter hurdle event with a time of 57.40.

In addition, Meyer took home first in the long jump, clearing 20’02.50”. Fellow teammate Nathan Ward also earned points in the event, taking home fifth place with a jump of 18’07”

The Warriors were near the top of all four field events, including a 1-2 finish in the high jump. Senior Jordan Rommes took the top spot, clearing 6’01” while junior Treyton Jacobsen was second, clearing 5’08”.

Carson Lensing was second in the discus with a distance of 144’03” and third in shot put with a throw of 49’.

The team of Lensing, Jacobsen, Mitchell Herold, and Rommes finished first in the 4x100 relay with a time of 44.96.  

The Warriors also took top honors in the 4x200 relay, with the team of Meyer, Jacobsen, Herold, and Rommes finishing with a time of 1:34.40.

Juniors Mitchell Herold and Treyton Jacobsen tied for fifth in the 100-meter dash. The pair tied earlier this season at the UIC Indoor in the 55-meter dash, the event’s indoor equivalent.

It came down to the wire, but the Warriors edged Central-Elkader in the team race, 111 to 110.5.

The Warrior boys ran Monday, April 13, at Decorah. Results were unavailable at press time.

The boys will be back in action Monday, April 20, at Decorah.
