After dropping two basketball games earlier in the week, the North Fayette Valleyboys’ finally ended a six-game losing streak by beating Olewein, 68-55, Saturday in the Valley gym.

The game was at Valley because the gym in West Union was being used for the UIC Wrestling Meet.

It looked for a while like the streak might go to seven as the Huskies managed a 10-2 lead during the first eight minutes.

However, the shots finally started to fall for the TigerHawks as they outscored the visitors in each of the next three quarters.

Thomas Hanson had the hot hand, pouring in 20 points, including a pair of shots from downtown.

Brandon Fenneman and Trystan Riley were also in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Tuesday, Jan. 27, NFV lost a heartbreaker, 70-65, to South Winn in West Union.

SW was hot early, racing to a 16-7 advantage in the first quarter. After that, the teams played pretty even ball.

The TigerHawks could never quite overcome the early lead, despite the fact they had reduced the lead to three points in the waning minutes. SW made enough free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.

Brandon Fenneman led the TigerHawks with 16 points. Austin Callahan and Hanson were also in double figures with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Spencer Heyer had his best game of the season, coming off the bench to score a dozen points and grab three rebounds.
