With two third-place finishes in the team standings last week, it is a safe bet that the Warriors are still improving.

At Decorah

With 82 points, South Winn finished behind host Decorah and Osage on Monday, April 21.

Leaping a distance of 20’8”, sophomore Ben Meyer garnered first place in the long jump for the Warriors.

Earning big points for the South Winn team were the 4x100, 4x200 and distance medley relays as they all broke the finish line tape in first place.

Members of the 4x100 included Jared Schroeder, Treyton Jacobsen, Alex Shatek, and Jordan Rommes. Exchanging Ben Meyer for Jacobsen, the 4x200 quartet remained nearly identical and completed the race in 1:34.67.

Schroeder, Rommes, and B. Meyer got the distance medley squad off on a good foot for the win, anchored by Devin Franzen for first place.

Claiming silvers for South Winn were Shatek in 200m dash and Chris Brincks in the 110m hurdles.

Bronze went to the 4x400 team of Mitch Herold, Garret Bohach, Mac Faldet, and Nathan Meyer.

At North Fayette Valley

It was a close race for team supremacy at the North Fayette Valley Invitational on Friday. South Winn again finished third in the team standings with 101 points, behind NFV and Decorah.

Individually Chris Brincks won gold in the high jump and silver in the 110m high hurdles; Ben Meyer won the long jump.

The 4x800 foursome of Bohach, B. Meyer, N. Meyer, and Franzen crossed the finish line in 8:24.63 to take home gold.

N. Meyer and Franzen added to their medal count with a silver in the 800m and 1600m runs, respectively. B. Meyer finished with a bronze in the 200m dash.

On Tuesday, April 29, the Warriors hit the Clayton Ridge oval in co-ed competition. Standings and results were unavailable at press time.

Thursday, they will be a bit closer to home as they head to Crestwood in their second co-ed track meet this week.
