West Central boys’ track ran well Thursday, April 10 at Postville. The 10-team meet featured eight schools from the UIC, with the Blue Devils finishing eighth with 22 points. With points going to the top five placers in each event, South Winn beat Waukon by five, 139-134.5, with Postville third with 64 points.
James Niemann led the Blue Devils, winning the 400 hurdles and placing third in the 110 hurdles; he also scored two points by finishing fifth in the long jump.
Sam Annis earned four points for WC with his fourth-place finish in the 400 dash.
After the meet, head coach Chris Stafford said, “I am really proud of our effort. We are pretty banged up at the moment and ran the meet with only eight guys.
“We are still trying to figure out where everyone fits, and over the next couple meets I am going to play around with the lineup to see what works and what doesn't.”
