J. Barry, Lehs pace WC girls' track

Jamie Barry and Erin Lehs were the points leaders for West Central this week as the Blue Devil girls ran Tuesday, April 8, at Postville and Thursday at Starmont.

As a team, the Devils were eighth in the 11-team Lady Pirate Relays in Postville and sixth in the eight-team meet at Starmont. 

Tuesday in Postville, Lehs had 15 of the Devils’ 23 points, while Barry and Ashley Buzynski scored 11 points apiece. Thursday, Barry was the points leader with 13, and Lehs earned 11.

Buzynski (400 hurdles) and the sprint medley brought home bronze medals.

Both the 4x200 and distance medley placed fourth; both ran season-best times.

Thursday at Starmont, the girls set six season-bests and another six personal-bests in time or distance.

Jamie Barry won the only medal for the Devils, finishing third in the 100-meter dash; Lehs was right behind in fourth place.

 WC had four relays score team points.
