The West Central girls’ basketball team bowed out of Regional action Thursday, Feb. 13, suffering a 60-36 loss to Kee High in Lansing.

The Blue Devils kept it close for eight minutes, trailing, 12-6, going into the second period. However, Kee went on a 19-8 run over the next eight minutes to put WC in a 31-14 hole by halftime, and the Devils could never get any closer.

Madee Grimm led the Devil scorers with 12 points, including a pair of bombs from beyond the arc. Jenni Hollinrake added eight points and a team-high six rebounds. Erin Lehs contributed five points and five boards.

With the loss, West Central ends the season with a record of 2-19; both wins were out of the conference.

The Blue Devils graduate four seniors in Kaitlyn Ruff, Tess Kuennen, Grimm and Hollinrake.

Juniors Mary Scott, Faith Stickfort, and Lehs, along with sophomores Anna Barry, Cheridan Brickman and Ashley Buzynski, will anchor the Devils in the 2014-15 season. Freshman Mary Michels is one of the JV players who played some varsity, and her JV teammates will get a chance to show what they’ve learned as varsity players next year.
