The TigerHawk wrestling team started 2014 like it ended 2013 – with a dual win. The team also finished sixth at the Panther Invite in Tripoli on Saturday, Jan. 11. The TigerHawks crowned two champions in Zach Bruns and Nick Baumler.

NFV opened the year by beating MFL/MM and host Postville in dual action on Thursday, Jan. 9.

The highlight of the night was TigerHawk heavyweight Dalton Lape winning the 100th match of his career. The school’s all-time leader in pins won a decision against the Bulldogs and picked up number 100 on a bye against Postville.

On the night, NFV won both matches, downing MFL/MM, 52-18, and the Pirates, 67-9.

The TigerHawks won nine matches by throw with Nick Baumler (160) and Nahua Lansing (195) getting both of their wins by pin.

Saturday at Tripoli, the TigerHawks accumulated 104.5 points to finish sixth. Bruns won the 138-pound title, while Baumler was the champion at 160. Austen DeMuth went 4-1 to finish third at 145.
