The Lady Warriors have been on fire as of late in UIC competition, shooting the Kee Hawks down, 49-36, at home on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

It was a tight contest between SW and Kee as Payton Poshusta paved the way in scoring seven of the Lady Warriors’ first-quarter points. A pair of Kee High charity tosses with nine seconds remaining knotted the score, 9-9.

The Hawks scampered into the second period with the first five points as the SW nets fell silent until the 4:19 mark. A flurry of points began to fall in the Warriors’ favor with another pair of treys by P. Poshusta, and two more long balls by Micole Lansing pushed SW into the lead, 25-17, at the break.

The second half also belonged to the Lady Warriors as they continued to find ways to put the ball in the hoop. With 2:18 remaining, SW began to rotate the ball around the perimeter and away from Kee to win, 49-36.

P. Poshusta’s hand was hot throughout the game as she connected for 23 points, pulled down nine boards, and grabbed a pair of steals.

Lansing dished out eight assists and had six takeaways in the victory to lead the Lady Warriors.
