Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Lucas

Rosalyn Bodensteiner, age 76, of West Union, IA, died on Monday, September 2, 2013, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA.

Rosalyn Ida (Heying) was born on December 7, 1936, the daughter of Peter and Agnes (Bohr) Heying in Festina, Iowa.  Rosalyn attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina and Calmar High School.   Rosalyn married Eugene Bodensteiner on August 12, 1957, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina.  Rosalyn was a stay at home mother, raising seven children, and she also helped as a secretary for Eugene’s insurance business.  In later years, Rosalyn worked at the nursing home.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening, baking, watching hummingbirds, little kittens, growing roses and above all her grandchildren.  She was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in St. Lucas.

Rosalyn is survived by her husband, Eugene Bodensteiner, West Union, IA. Seven children: Steven (Valerie) Bodensteiner, Marble Rock, IA, Cathy (Jim) Eickman, Mountain Home, AR, Jodi (Donnie) Kriener, Ridgeway, IA, Thomas (Glenda) Bodensteiner, Decorah, IA, James (Margo) Bodensteiner, New Hampton, IA, John (Ann) Bodensteiner, Cedar Rapids, IA, Dean Bodensteiner, LaCrosse, WI. Grandchildren: Carrie (Matt) Borntrager, Danielle Bodensteiner, Jay Eickman, William Eickman, Darren (fiancé, Kayla Koth) Kriener, Jenny Kriener, Kody Bodensteiner, Spencer Bodensteiner, Irelynn Bodensteiner; Great-grandchild: Alyssa Kriener.  Five sisters: Ruth Langreck, Cresco, IA; Kay (Stanley) Humpal, Decorah; Elsie Timp, Calmar, IA; Joyce (Richard) Shindelar, Calmar, IA; and Marcie (Larry) Havel, Osage, IA. Four brothers: Irvin (Marion) Heying, Sumner, IA; Cleo (Emily) Heying, Luana, IA; Richard (Linda) Heying, Ossian, IA; and Donald (Carolyn) Heying, Calmar, IA. Two sisters-in-law: Elaine Heying, Calmar, IA, and Vivian Hemesath, Ossian, IA, along with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rosalyn was preceded in death by her parents: Peter and Agnes (Bohr) Heying.  Daughter: Carol Ann Bodensteiner (four years old).  Grandson:  Terrence Eli Bodensteiner (infancy). Daughter-in-law: Darlene Bodensteiner. Two brothers: Hugo (Lucille) Heying and Larry Heying. Brothers and sister-in-law: Ray Langreck, Donald Timp, Germaine (Robert) Hemesath and Francis Hemesath.
