The Knob Prairie Golf Tournament almost didn’t happen this year.
According to Gary Bemiss, “I thought about not running it this year. We (Gary and current co-directors Paul Bemiss and Steve Heyer) didn’t want to compete with donations for Kaleidoscope Kids and Streetscape because they are so important to the community.”
The good news for local recreation is the organizers went ahead under the idea that “every little bit helps.”
Because of this, area recreation has $25,400 more to help area youth.
“We’re really pleased with the results,” noted Bemiss. “We had a tremendous response both from area businesses and small donations from individuals.”
With the funds, the Rec Complex has a new Gator, flag football will be helped, and the shelter at Clark Park has a new floor. Other improvements are being eyed for the park.
Since its inception 13 years ago, Knob Prairie Golf has raised over $485,000 with every penny going to help recreational opportunities for local youth.
