Services set for Aug. 17 for former Lawler woman

Gerie Schulte, of rural Cuba City, wife of Gary Schulte, mother of Kim (Pat) Lensing of Lawler, IA; and Curt (Michele) Timlin of Platteville, WI, died peacefully at her home Saturday, August 10, 2013.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Benton, Wisconsin. Father David Flanagan will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a scripture wake service at 4:00 p.m., friends may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of Gerie’s favorite charities; Badger Camp or Hospice of Dubuque.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Gerie was born on September 12, 1940, the daughter of Conrad and Katherine (Lusson) Kuennen, at home in Lawler, Iowa, where they farmed and raised eleven children.  She is survived by her husband, Gary Schulte of Cuba City; two children, Kim (Pat) Lensing and their children, Karleen, Morgan, Tierney, and Delaney of Lawler, Iowa; Curt (Michele) Timlin and their children, MacKenzie and Connor of Platteville, Wisconsin; Gary’s two children; son, Rick (Valerie) Schulte and their children, Tripp and Torin of Piqua, OH; and daughter, Angie Schulte of Cedar Rapids, IA ; siblings, Germaine (Roger) Langreck of St. Lucas, IA; Roger Kuennen of New Hampton, IA; Kay (Gary) Roberson of Bettendorf, IA; Steve (Joyce) Kuennen of Lawler, IA; Susie (Neal) Stone of Lawler, IA; Pauline (Jim) Cox of Galena, IL; Tom Kuennen of Oronoco, MN; Jackie Stone of New Hampton, IA; and Lisa (Harold) Busta of Lawler, IA; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Faith Kuennen.  The family would like to give thanks to  Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent and personal care.
