Memorial service held for former W.U. woman

Sandra S. “Sandy” Amdahl, 73, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of West Union, died Monday June 24, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center. 

A memorial service was held Thursday, June 27, at Bisch and Son Funeral Home in Springfield, Ill., with the Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke officiating. 

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Tomah, Wis. 

Sandra S. (Shaffer) Amdahl was born March 20, 1940, in Tomah, Wis., to W. Dale and Mabel (Hubert) Shaffer. 

Sandy was the owner of the Sears & Roebuck Catalog Store in West Union, retiring in 1978. 

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. 

In her leisure time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts and puzzles.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson: and her two brothers, Gene and Gary Shaffer. 

Surviving are her daughter, Debra (David) Halverson of Springfield, Ill.; two sons, Dale (Melissa) Amdahl of Potomac Falls, Va., and Richard Amdahl; grandchildren Melissa, Kyle, Brandon, Mason, Chayna (Vinnie) and Nichole; her great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Jester of Antigo, Wis.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
