Megan Jane Carr and Michael John Standafer of Carlsbad, Calif., were married Saturday, May 18, in a ceremony held at the Naval Amphibious Base Chapel in Coronado, Calif. The 4 p.m. ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Charles Lacombe.

Parents of the couple are Melodie Frazer and John Carr, both of Manchester, N.H., Roberta and Allen Mittelsted of West Union, and John and Nancy Standafer of Cedar Falls.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. Wearing a white, lace-appliqued gown with a fitted bodice and flared skirt featuring a sculpted neckline and V-shaped back, she carried a bouquet of long-stemmed white roses accented with carnations and baby’s breath.

Jasmine Kaur, friend of the bride, was the matron of honor. The maid of honor was Molly Gross, sister of the groom, of Waterloo. Attending as bridesmaids were Katie Standafer of Columbia, Mo., and Teresa Standafer of Hiawatha, sisters of the groom.

Their knee-length dresses were of gold satin and featured a single shoulder strap.

Flower girls were Mya and Madasyn Gross, nieces of the groom.

The groom’s best man was his friend Bryan Yerger of San Diego, Calif. Groomsmen were Bryan Soto, friend of the groom, of Los Angeles; Robbi Carr, brother of the bride; and Zac Scherrman, friend of the groom, of Dubuque.

The music was provided by a vocalist/pianist from the couple’s local San Diego church.

In the recessional, the bride and groom exited the ceremony under an Arch of Swords presented by Marine honor guards.

The couple were then honored at a reception and dance held at Breakers Beach Deck at the Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, Calif.

Megan is a 2004 graduate of Manchester (N.H.) High School West. She graduated from Southern New Hampshire University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and is currently working on her master’s degree in corporate finance. Megan is the accounting manager at Direct Avenue, Inc. in Carlsbad, Calif.

Michael graduated from North Fayette High School in 2003 and from Loras College in 2007. He is currently a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps and serves as a company commander at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, Calif., where he is stationed. Michael is a 2013 Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School. The couple live in Carlsbad, Calif.

A local reception for the newlyweds will be held in West Union at a later date.
