Marilyn A. Frieden

 

Marilyn A. Frieden, 78, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., formerly of Farmersburg and Arlington, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis. 

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, at Norway Lutheran Church, St. Olaf. The Rev. Marshall Hahn officiated.
 

Inurnment was at Illyria Cemetery, rural Elgin.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Monona was in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Ann (DeWitte) Frieden was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Manchester to Elon and Mary Ann (Chapman) DeWitte. 

She graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington, in 1952. Marilyn then worked at a bank until her marriage.

On April 28, 1954, she was wed to Milo William Frieden in Arlington. To this union six children were born. 

In addition to farming with Milo for many years, Marilyn also worked at Central Community Schools in Elkader. 

She enjoyed baking and gardening, and she loved her flowers.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lisa Frieden; two grandsons, Michael Frieden and Matt Frieden; and a brother, Gary DeWitte.
 

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Milo; five children, David Mark Frieden (special friend Dianna) of Cedar Rapids, Greg Frieden of St. Olaf, Karen Harvey of Des Moines, Jeff Frieden of Dubuque, and Mari Ellen Koehn of Monona; six grandchildren, Holly (Alex) Randall, Jeremy (Sara) Frieden, Rob (Joan) Frieden, Brian Harvey, Ethan Koehn and Macayla Koehn; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey (Kenny) Garetson of Lamont and Janet (Jim) McCalmont of Centenial, Colo.; and a sister-in-law, Darla DeWitte of Elgin.
