Wadena native dies in Wisconsin

Betty M. Brackin, 84, of Galesville, Wis., formerly of Wadena, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Marinuka Manor in Galesville.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville Chapel, in Galesville, Wis.

Betty M. (Cline) Brackin was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Wadena to Lawrence and Ima (Everett) Cline.

On Nov. 14, 1944, she married Joseph Brackin; they later divorced.

In 1972, Betty moved from Iowa to the Ettrick, Wis., area. She worked as a nurse’s aide in various nursing homes and later was a self-employed day-care provider.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents; a sister, Margie Schuety; and two brothers, John Cline an James Cline.

Survivors include two sons, John of Fort Dodge and James (Donna) of Blair, Wis.; four daughters, Ima Jean (Randall) Cheney of Ames, Josephine (Jerry) Olson of West Bend, JoAnn (Neal) Hammersland and Susan (Gary) Streif, both of West Union; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Francis Hofflinger of California.       9u9
