The South Winneshiek boys’ golf team competed in an 18-hole quadrangular Saturday at the New Hampton Golf and Country Club. The Warriors shot a 413 and were led by senior Shaun Klimesh who carded a 92.

“It was a tough day and the wind played a big factor,” said coach Mike Wenthold. “I think it was a good learning experience. I’ve said before that in order for our team to take the next step, they need to be able to score on courses they’re less familiar with. The courses that we normally play on are wide open, but New Hampton is more narrow and has water everywhere. That course requires more precision, better decision making, and more confident ball striking.”

Luna Valley Farm has been selected as the winner of the Outstanding Attraction for the state of Iowa at this year's Iowa Tourism Conference.

Farmers Maren and Tom Beard added a tourism strategy to their business in 2017 to diversify income, create a community gathering space, and use wood-fired pizza as a way to lift up the narrative of local foods. The approach found wild success and Luna Valley Farm is now a true destination for travelers, serving more than 4,500 wood-fired pizzas each season.
