Iowa Great Places awards $75,000 grant to West Union for Echo Valley Park Trail

The City of West Union was one of six projects awarded a grant through the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs’ Iowa Great Places program. The City will receive $75,000 to towards the West Union to Echo Valley State Park Trail project. The trail will start in West Union and then run around the northernly and easterly perimeter of the golf course, shown in the background here with West Union City Adminisrator Aime Johansen, Tourism Director Mallory Hanson and Fayette County Conservation Director Rod Marlatt, who are all involved in the project. Iowa Great Places awards $75,000 grant to West Union for Echo Valley park trail

The City of West Union was recently approved to receive a $75,000 Iowa Great Places Grant for a trail that would go from city limits out to Echo Valley Park. The grant prompted the City to go ahead and accept the grant and approve going ahead with the trail project at the regular Council meeting Monday, Nov. 1.
