Performances at the Pavilion are back at the Ossian Educational and Performance Pavilion this summer. The weekly entertainment in Carey’s Park is sponsored by The City of Ossian, Ossian Crown Club, and Casey’s General Store. All movies and live performances are free to the public. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the shows!

Big things are in the works within the Turkey Valley community. The Jackson Junction campus has plans to upgrade more of its facilities, including updating the concession stand with ADA restrooms and the construction of a greenhouse, through a capital campaign with a goal of $650,000.

Dean Timm

 

A burial service was held for Dean Timm at Wilson Grove cemetery near Sumner Iowa on June 5, 2021. The burial was delayed two years. In 1965 Dean willed his body for science to the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City.

Dean Charles Timm, age 86, of Boone, Iowa passed away Wednesday June 5, 2019 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home. Dean was born May 18, 1933 in Hawkeye, Iowa to Ervin and Verla (Gager) Timm. He was the fourth of eight children. He graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 as an MP stationed in Germany.

Dean married Marion Gorball of Forest City on November 28, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He is survived by his wife and four children: Randolph of Charles City, Richard of Waterloo, Jennifer (Michael) Gibson of Mankato, Minnesota and Barbara (Michael) MacDougall of Boone.

John A. Kaiserlik, 81, of Hawkeye, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Gundersen Palmer Lutheran Hospital in West Union.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at Faith Bible Fellowship in West Union with Pastor Dan Doebel officiating. Burial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hawkeye Cemetery with military rites provided by Arnold Rogers Post #312, American Legion of Hawkeye. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John's name to Faith Bible Fellowship in West Union. Becker & Son Funeral Home in Hawkeye is assisting John’s family. Dale (Butch) and Linda Adams have been a part of the Arlington community their entire lives, and not only just inhabitants, but also participants for most of that time.

To recognize their commitment and devotion to the town, they have been picked as this year’s Arlington Days Parade Grand Marshals. The parade is Saturday, July 10, starting at 1 p.m.
