The Warriors finished the regular season portion of the 2021 season with an impressive 24-10 record – but none of that matters anymore. Saturday evening, South Winn’s postseason officially got underway as the Warriors hosted Edgewood-Colesburg in Calmar.

South Winn jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the second, but was unable to open the game up through the middle innings.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Vikings cut the Warrior lead to three, before South Winn was able to sent six across home plate in the bottom of the sixth to extend the lead to 10-1.

The South Winneshiek school board made a decision at Monday evening’s meeting to begin looking into potential new facilities for the district.

Prior to deciding to hire Straka Johnson Architects to overtake the project, the board discussed the results from a survey that was recently put out to residents within the South Winneshiek school district.

The survey, which had 326 responses (approximately 12 percent of the voters in the district) showed that 74 percent of respondents were in support of a new high school facility and 72 percent of respondents would support a bond levy of up to $20 million to fund the project.
